Overview

PostProof.ai ("we", "our", "the app") is an AI-powered fact-checking application. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

Data we collect

We collect only what is necessary to provide the service:

Email address — for account authentication via one-time verification code. Stored securely by our authentication provider (Supabase).
Content you submit — images, videos, or text you share for fact-checking. This content is transmitted to Google's Gemini AI API for analysis. We do not store this content on our servers after processing.
Device identifier — a non-personal app-scoped identifier (Android ID) used to prevent abuse of free credit offers. This cannot identify you personally.
Language preference — your selected response language, stored to personalize results.
Purchase records — in-app purchase tokens for credit tracking, processed through Google Play Billing.
Feedback — if you rate a fact-check result (thumbs up/down), we store your rating and any optional comments to improve our service.
Usage metrics — anonymized, aggregated metrics such as request type, response time, and token usage. These contain no personal information.

Data stored on your device

Fact-check results and history (up to 50 most recent) are stored locally on your device only.
Screenshots and captured images are stored temporarily on your device and deleted automatically when no longer needed.
Your authentication session is stored locally so you remain signed in.

Data we do NOT collect

We do not track your location.
We do not access your contacts, camera, or microphone.
We do not collect browsing history or app usage patterns.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes.
We do not use cookies or third-party tracking SDKs in the app.

Screen capture

The app offers optional screen capture functionality (via Quick Settings tiles) to screenshot or record content for fact-checking. This feature:

Is initiated entirely by you — the app never captures your screen without your explicit action.
Requires your permission via Android's standard MediaProjection consent dialog each time.
Captured content is processed for fact-checking and stored temporarily on your device. It is not uploaded to our servers for storage.

Third-party services

We use the following third-party services to provide the app:

Supabase (supabase.com) — authentication, user data storage, and serverless functions. Supabase Privacy Policy

Google Play Billing — processing in-app credit purchases. Google Privacy Policy

Data retention

Content submitted for fact-checking is processed in real-time by Google's Gemini API and is not stored on our servers after the response is returned.
Account data (email, credits, language preference) is retained as long as your account exists.
Feedback data (ratings and comments) is retained indefinitely to improve the service.
Local history on your device is automatically limited to the 50 most recent results. Older results and associated files are deleted automatically.

Data security

All data in transit is encrypted using HTTPS/TLS. Authentication tokens are stored securely on your device. Server-side data is protected by Supabase's security infrastructure, including row-level security policies and encrypted storage.

Children's privacy

PostProof.ai is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.

Your rights

You have the right to:

Access your data — view your account information in the app.
Delete your account and all associated data — contact us at the email below.
Export your data — contact us for a copy of your data.
Opt out — you can sign out and uninstall the app at any time. Local data is deleted with the app.

Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes through the app or via email. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
